Like a fine wine, some oils get better with age! These include clove, rose, patchouli, sandalwood, spikenard, myrrh and vetivert improve as they age, but others, notably the citrus oils, oxidize and can become irritating and toxic with age.

  1. You talked about Sandalwood. That is my favorite scent. Do you sell this scent online?

  2. You talked about metal, glass, and plastic containers. Which is the best? The choice is so confusing. Which do you use the most? Whatever you say, I will probably respect and go with.

  3. I am huge on colored bottles and have been using brown for the longest time. Oddly enough, as I drunk a lot of beer, I have been saving my beer bottles and using them. I don't get the strongest oil, but they do really work. My wife also tried green bottles, but I found browns to work better.

I know you say that the dark colors are a myth, but I found that they do work well.

  4. Wow, I didn't know Sandalwood was so expensive, but I never heard of Vetivert before.

  9. I am always using citrus oils, But I also have essential oils from black cumin, which work well in a dark brown bottle.

  10. @luganoneglet, she has them on her website. I watched a few and they were very detailed.

@gagabri, wine coolers work well, and we have one in our house in liverpool.

I like Sandalwood as it has a nice aroma.

  13. You said "Oxygen degrades oils - causing some to lose beneficial properties and causing some constituents to become irritants or sensitizers (especially citrus & conifer oils), so keep bottles tightly closed and out of direct light. It may be advisable to rebottle to smaller bottles as oil is used to minimize the headspace (thereby minimizing contact with oxygen)."

Yes, I agree. I was wondering why it was taking too long and I found that the lid had a leak in it. That explains it. We were using the same bottom and lid for 2 years. Now I know that I cannot be cheap like that and have to buy a new one.

  16. I have one question: If colored bottles do not make a difference either way, do certain colors make SOME difference?

The reason I ask is because I realize that green bottles take longer than brown bottles, so I always assumed that darker bottles work better.

You are saying in this blog that it doesn't really matter, but sure I agree 100%.

  17. @lyzona, I have also noticed that dark bottles work much better than lighter colors. APparently in this blog, it doesn't make a difference, but I always say experiment.

  18. Can aromatherapy be applied to candles too?

  19. I agree with nothinglikered. The dark bottles work faster.
